National Multicultural Festival 2009 Canberra
Kennards Events was proud to once again be involved in the National Multicultural Festival, held in the nation’s capital
Now in its’ 13th year, the Festival grew by nearly 50% on 2008. Held in early February, the Festival incorporates food, dance, music, the Arts, theatre, culture, people, movies and Community.
Heat wave conditions with temperatures of over 40 degrees did not deter over 75,000 people from visiting this truly multicultural get-together.
Kennards Events erected over 250 stalls plus staging, tables, chairs, lighting and numerous catering requirements.
The challenges of working in the centre of the city during a normal working week were overcome by using a safe working environment practice of using pods. These pods were barricaded areas that kept our build teams and the public completely separate. Once an area was complete, the pod would move to the next area of build.
Kennards Events were also asked to supply six stages. These were 10m x 9m stages ranging from 300mm high to 900mm high. They were covered by Hoecker Pavilions and showcased the major dance groups from around the world. There were also Parquetry dance floors, used in spectacular fashion by the fiery Latin Dance groups.
The Festival ran for over a full week and utilized many areas of the city and surrounds, showing yet again what a fabulous place Canberra is for showcasing major events.
Kennards Events were able to once again prove that they were able to deliver a fantastic result, on time, using safe work practices and exceeding their clients expectations. This is due in main to the great teamwork displayed by all involved.
